The facial cleansing foam product, derived from Klu leaf extracts and designed to reduce skin inflammation, is a research achievement from Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP).

The “Klu” plant, which is a shrub-like plant, is a common plant found in various regions, especially in areas near the sea where there are saltwater inundation zones. The leaves of the Klu plant have been traditionally used by local communities in Asian regions such as India, Malaysia, and Indonesia for medicinal purposes. They are known to help reduce inflammation, particularly in the treatment of blister wounds, by slowing down the inflammation process.

The key bioactive compounds found in Klu leaves include phenolic compounds and flavonoids, as well as chlorogenic acid and quercetin. These compounds are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. As a result, various products have been developed from extracts of Klu leaves for the treatment of inflammatory conditions, such as lotions, creams, and more.

Researchers from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) conducted a study to investigate the anti-inflammatory properties of Klu leaf extracts. Their goal was to harness the benefits of these extracts in developing skincare products, specifically facial cleansing foam, that can reduce skin inflammation. This research received support from the Office of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to promote scientific research and innovation.
