RMUTP introducing the new curriculum in the field of Creative Jewelry, aiming to produce graduates in jewelry design to support the country’s industry.

President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), revealed that the gem and jewelry industry has long been a leading export product of Thailand. Therefore, Thailand must expedite the development of personnel in the field of gems and jewelry. This involves elevating the skills of the workforce within the country by providing rapid access to tools and technologies developed in line with the government’s economic development policies, often referred to as the “Value-Based Economy” or the economy driven by innovation. This includes fostering new entrepreneurs, startups, and SMEs, as well as creating Thai-branded products. This calls for graduates who possess diverse knowledge, abilities, and skills, including the application of technology, cost-effective production, product confidence, and the flexibility to adapt to rapid technological changes in their professions.
President further mentioned that Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) has introduced a new curriculum for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Creative Jewelry, starting from the year 2022. This program is offered under the Institute of Gem and Jewelry Thai Design. The four-year undergraduate program aligns with the standards of a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and aims to equip graduates with both academic knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to perform well in their careers within various industries. The curriculum emphasizes active and adaptive learning methods to accommodate the rapid technological changes, focusing on developing professional competence, analytical thinking, creative expression, and essential skills needed for the current job market. The graduates are prepared to immediately contribute to their workplaces with their high potential in both self-development and adapting to the evolving demands of their professional fields.
Moreover, in collaboration with industry partners such as the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association and Best Value Jewelry Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the university has also initiated an academic cooperation agreement. This agreement aims to enhance learning resources, including classrooms, laboratories, and equipment, enabling students to learn efficiently and have access to resources anytime and anywhere. Currently, the university is accepting applications for the new professional certificate (Diploma) level and intends to recruit 10 individuals for enrollment in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program (B.F.A.) in Creative Jewelry for the academic year 2022. The application submission period is from now until February 22, 2022, via the university’s website www.rmutp.ac.th. The university will announce the list of qualified candidates for interviews on February 24, 2022.
